Settling

A gradual shift from activity towards a calmer pace and fewer stimuli.

It does not have to mean sleep

Settling may simply be a quiet moment, an easier breath or a stronger sense of being present in the body.

It is most useful to understand “Settling” in the context of wellbeing, safety and the purpose of the visit. The term alone does not decide which technique to use or what response to expect.

It needs time rather than pressure

Not everyone rests quickly.

Predictability and lack of rush help more than expecting an instant result.

Returning to activity is part of the process

After a quiet stage, allow time to change position, have some water and gather your thoughts.

Being rushed immediately afterwards can reduce the comfort created during the session.
